Here at Storypod, we are parents, educators, and caretakers who are constantly looking for new ways to support our children's early childhood literacy development while keeping them engaged and interested.
We’ve heard from caretakers across the board (parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, daycares, schools, and many others) that there is an overwhelming need for effective and interactive education and entertainment that won’t be outgrown by children in a few short months or years.
We recognize this need. In response, we have created an engaging audio-platform for children (now in use by thousands of families) that:
- Is a screen-free Pathway to Learning
- Grows with a child’s individual development
- Helps to reduce the negative effects that excessive screen time can have on early childhood development
- Provides the right audio content for your kids at the right time
The Journal of Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience has found that interactive audio experiences for infants and young children (like Storypod’s Audio Experiences) help to promote their brain plasticity.
Neuroplasticity is important as it allows the brain to adapt, grow, and change due to a person’s experiences in the wider world. Our audio-focused approach to learning and development acts as an educational roadmap, delivering relevant and developmentally appropriate content at each point of an individual child’s journey towards lifelong literacy and comprehension.
As we navigate a constantly changing world together, especially with the extensive cultural changes brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, it is more important than ever to provide young children with as much support as possible – especially with Social-Emotional Learning.
The beginning stages of our “Pathway to Learning” focus heavily on “Social-Emotional Learning” (SEL). Research shows that SEL plays a critical role in:
- Children learning how to healthily manage their emotions
- Developing lifelong, strong, emotional-intelligence skills
- High success rates in academic settings
So what is Storypod?
Storypod unlocks and ignites children’s imaginations through a 360° sound speaker that leads kids on adventures as they listen and learn from stories, songs, and rhymes enabled by a charming cast of “Craftie” yarn companions.
Storypod is more than just an auditory listening device. Children engage with the speaker to stimulate cognition and creativity with the interactive buttons that reveal captivating activities and trivia.
The adventure begins when the smart Crafties are placed on top of the speaker to bring the Storypod to life. Packed with up to 90 minutes of preloaded audio content, the smart Crafties instantly download to the Storypod speaker. Once the content is downloaded through Wi-Fi, kids can take Storypod anywhere – outside, in the car, etc. – to enjoy uninterrupted play!
Our different Audio Experiences nurture children’s tactile learning as they grow. Our soft yarn Crafties help ages 0 and up take in sensory information with their hands and fine motor skills. Our read-along audiobooks are great options for children to strengthen their literacy skills by learning about “print awareness”, which is one of the five elements of early childhood literacy. Our interactive trivia cards help your children grow along our Pathway to Learning with fun and engaging academic content.
The screen-free and visual components of our read-along audiobooks and trivia cards give kids a way to listen, learn, and grow that is often presented to them through screens. Storypod provides edu-tainment without the negative effects of blue light and screens.
As children progress along our “Pathway of Learning”, more core subjects become integrated into the content and experience, especially in regards to strengthening early childhood literacy skills. Our read-along audiobooks and trivia cards present children with new and interactive ways of learning while reinforcing critical phonetic and reading skills that many children are currently struggling with. Our informational blog, "Listen, Learn, Grow" is here to support families with helpful articles on child development, literacy, and more.
Here at Storypod, we know that it takes a village to raise a child. The growth that a baby’s brain experiences in their early years sets the foundation for how that child’s brain will develop throughout their lifetime. Parents, caregivers, teachers, librarians, doctors, friends, and family all contribute to the positive growth that children experience by providing them with helpful tools and resources from day 1!
We’re here to be a part of that team - helping you provide your child with the strongest foundation possible through audio-based learning.
As your children listen, learn, and grow, Storypod is here to support you with screen-free Audio Experiences that make learning fun!
